"At present I am working on alternatives to plastic bags, aiming to encourage people to switch to reusable bags, aiming to reduce the consumption of thin plastic bags that come in the roll which are currently used when buying produce. 1.6 billion of plastic bags are consumed in NZ every year and 100,000 die every year after ingesting or becoming entangled in them."

"I'm a second year Computer Science Student at UC, a soldier in the Army reserve, a Scout Leader, a St John member and I enjoy developing free software and working in CyberSecurity.

Our current idea is working to provide schools IT systems with a low barrier to entry, we're working to achieve this with prominent members of the Open Hardware and Free Software community. We're doing this as New Zealand is not a developing nation and thus does not qualify for One Laptop Per Child but for the majority of youth having access to a computer at school or at home is still difficult and cost restrictive."
